567
567 is a classical minimalism piece for 1 flute, 2 clarinets, 1 alto and 1 tenor saxophone, 2 horns, 1 trumpet, 1 trombone, 1 tuba, 4 percussionists and 1 piano. The inspiration for this piece comes from a piece by Alvin Curren, of which, the firm movement consisted of just G, A and Bb for 10 minutes. Although this piece bears very little resemblance to Curren's, sonically, I liked the idea of using just a small set of notes to create an entire piece, hence, 456- Chords IV V and vi for 8 minutes.
There is other material besides the simples progression but it aims to accompany the IV V vi progression that remains constant through the entire piece. I have linked an example rendered in MIDI sounds for the moment but I'm planning for this piece to be played at my recital next year. |
