Kitsune

This is a piece I wrote in collaboration with director, Jennie Fer for a short film called "Fox Spirit." The title, Kitsune was a working title she gave the project but I liked it so it stuck. It was a very challenging project. The film itself was very vague and open ended and Jennie was very specific about what music she wanted. It took a few iterations and a lot of trail and error to come up with the final product. 


At first, I tried a very noisy, electronic score; then a much more traditional, Japanese style score to suit the theme of the film. In the end, what worked was a combination of the two styles. 


The film was premiered at The Raw Perth Film Festival on the 2nd of May and opened for the night. It was well received by the patrons there.
